Jerry Shanahan (Past Speaker)

Jerry is a proven practitioner who leverages his experience delivering business excellence, to educate and coach organisations on how to achieve their ambitions. Recognising people as the most important resource, Jerry ensures that sustainable change is brought about through the fully engaging organisations on what is possible and remaining focused on tangible results. As an Oliver Wight Associate, Jerry works with many companies across a range of industries. His programmes to date range from Integrated Business Planning implementations, to building end-to-end supply chain capabilities, to supporting organisations design a truly integrated Product and Portfolio Optimization process. A common thread through all of Jerry’s programmes is strategy; ensuring every business has a clear view of where they want to go, before they deploy the mechanisms to get there. Jerry builds collaborative and enduring relationships with the senior management team of organisations he works with to ensure a successful outcome. Jerry has held a variety of senior roles across the electronics and medical device industries. His most recent role, prior to joining Oliver Wight, was as Vice President of International Operations of global healthcare solutions provider, DePuy, Johnson & Johnson. Before joining DePuy, Johnson & Johnson, Jerry gained very broad business experience through roles of Chief Operating Officer at Enterasys Networks, Manufacturing director at Cabletron Systems, Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Intel, Ireland and New Products Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation. Jerry’s wealth of experience has an international dimension too, having held direct responsibility for operations in Europe, Us and Asia. Jerry has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BE) degree from University College Cork and a Masters of Science (MSc) in Total Quality Management from the University of Limerick.
